With the support of the NSERC Discovery Grant "Fundamental Studies on Incompressible Flat-Plate Boundary Layer and Pipe Flow", our group is currently performing investigations on the statistics and coherent structures of zero-pressure-gradient flat-plate boundary layer over a continuous momentum-thickness Reynolds number range from 80 to 3,000. Last year, we reported our DNS on a genuine zero-pressure-gradient flat-plate boundary layer over a low momentum-thickness Reynolds number range from 80 to 1000 (Wu and Moin, JFM, cover-page article of Vol. 630, 2009). The paper has been cited 16 times within the first year after its publication. This work also won the 2008 Gallery of Fluid Motion Competition from the American Physical Society Division of Fluid Dynamics. The comment article written by Professor Marusic (JFM, Vol. 630, 2009) specifically discussing the paper of Wu and Moin has been constantly rated the number-one most downloaded article by JFM-Online since July 2009. A very recent paper by Wu and Moin has once again been selected as the cover-page article on Physics Fluids Vol. 22, no.8, 2010.
