This proposal requests funds to support the research of 5 graduate students working on experimental low temperature physics. The research involves developing or implementing new configurations of measurements using cryogenic sensors such as SQUIDs, SETS, rf-QPCs and TESs. We are applying these measurements to answer questions in fundamental physics such as the effect of dissipation in a macroscopic quantum system, the magnetic properties of a dilute frustrated Ising dipolar magentic system, novel magnetic materials exhibiting magnetic monopole physics, the resolution of latent heat in potential weak first order phase transitions, and the quantum limited behaviour of magnetic and electric field sensors.
