Interactive decision support and adaptive Web interfaces for enhancing the online experience of older adults

As the populations of most of the worlds developed nations experience an increase in average age, a similar trend is being observed in the population of Internet users. In many cases, older adults are the fastest growing computer and Internet user group in both personal and workplace contexts. However, the needs and concerns of older adults as online users differ from those of younger users as a result of the various physical and cognitive limitations they experience which are associated the natural changes due to aging. Such limitations result in many challenges for this user group with the online interface as well as difficulties in being able to make high quality decisions in the online environment. This situation ultimately deprives older adults from reaping the full utility of the Internet and causing them to be less satisfied with their overall online experience.
