英文摘要
Control of chemical and biochemical reactions requires understanding of the fundamental factors that govern those processes. This proposal seeks to continue to explore the role of electronic structure on reactivity in inorganic, organometallic, and biological processes. Specific examples include the characterization of S-N bonds in biologically-relevant molecules, the exploration of metal-ligand bonding to determine the importance and role of electrostatic vs covalent interactions in controlling reactivity, and the investigation of a new family of metal-dioxygen complexes that exhibits novel reactivity.
