英文摘要
Lithium is an increasingly important metal resource, especially within the context of expanding electrical
energy storage requirements as the world seeks to transition to sustainable energy sources. As the primary
ingredient in the most effective and broadly-applicable high energy-density battery technology (lithium ion
batteries), the increasing need for lithium as raw material has spawned increasing economic attention. This
project seeks to develop robust methodologies based on ICP-OES techniques to quantify lithium concentrations
in brine deposits as well as explore a series of potential lithium separation technologies for the
environmentally-sustainable extraction of lithium from brine deposits in Canada and around the world.
