英文摘要
The Annidis RHA system is an advanced Multi-Spectral Imaging ophthalmoscope for early detection of ocular pathologies such as age-related macular degeneration and glaucoma. A new method of illumination of the choroid at the back of the eye is proposed and will be studied as a major prospect for developing the system further. Contrary to the standard illumination through the pupil of the eye, the novel scheme, developed in collaboration by Annidis Health Systems and Algonquin College, uses waveguiding and other properties of the eye tissues to cast light on the choroid. This technology may allow "eye-opening" possibilities in diagnosing/discovering vision related problems and diseases for ophthalmology and optometry. The study will facilitate the development and commercialization of a new generation of digital ophthalmoscopes. The Ottawa partner company Annidis will strengthen it's position as an innovation and market leader in that field and in turn increase revenue and job creation for a Canadian company.
