The Sulphurets copper-gold mineral district is located in a remote part of northwestern British Columbia. It has been exploited in the past by small-scale mines, but recent exploration activity, combined with high metal prices, has led to the delineation of one of the largest unexploited resources of Cu and Au in the Canadian Cordillera. Completion of the Northwest Transmission Line (expected by December 2013) will bring electrical power to within 45 km of the Sulphurets district, transforming the economics of development in the region, and enabling the construction and operation of large scale mines.
