This proposal is for a high-repetition-rate solid-state laser, capable of producing several thousand intense pulses of light per second. The laser is an essential component of a state-of-the-art 10 kHz laser diagnostics system at the University of Toronto Institute for Aerospace Studies, which provides experimental capabilities that are unique in Canada and on-par with the best in the world. The system will be used to obtain planar measurements of the dynamic flow and combustion processes within low-emission fuel-flexible engines, in order to develop methods for prediction and control of these dynamics.
