The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Concordia University seeks support from NSERC to acquire near-field antenna range planar scanner, which will be dedicated to support ongoing research on antennas particularly near filed focusing antennas, reflect array, and phased arrays. The equipment will be used to pursue studies of new, innovative antennas of large aperture and large planar phased array antennas for research projects, including studies of dielectric resonator antennas, printed antennas, and radar/sensor antennas. This instrumentation is needed because ECE does not currently have capability for large aperture antenna measurements. Generally, Concordia lacks the sufficient microwave equipment that are crucial for the success of its research program and for training there graduate students in the field of electromagnetic applications. Currently, design and construction of new and innovative large aperture antennas are in plan, and full-scale testing is needed for design validation.
