The objective of this research proposal is to develop a novel class of high-gain directive planar antennas using metamaterial technology for point-to-pont mellitary tactical communication systems. In partnership with Ultra Electronics, this research project brings together the Antenna Group at INRS to combine their extensive expertise on antenna design, electromagnetic modeling, and metamaterial technology with the objective of developing new high directive antenna arrays for future wireless tactical communication systems operating in microwave frequency bands. Exploiting recent metamateril technology breakthrough concepts, we plan to develop a new metamaterial superstrate structures that can be used for novel directive antenna designs.
