Reliable, controlled environmental chambers are essential for lab experiments with invertebrates. Two reach-in environmental chambers are requested, one primarily for working with rotifers and the other for fruit flies. The experiments performed with these organisms are related to two of the most fundamental questions in evolutionary genetics: (i) Why do organisms shuffle their genomes through sexual reproduction? (ii) How populations cope with the constant input of deleterious mutations? Performing high quality research related to these questions requires the space to perform highly-replicated experiments under controlled environmental conditions.
