The Hydraulic Power Supply (HPS) requested in this proposal is urgently needed to improve the dynamic test facilities at McMaster University. This includes the unique Structural Control Test Apparatus (SCTA), which can be configured to operate as either a bidirectional shake table or a multi-degree of freedom dynamic pendulum test system. The requested HPS, which will be utilized by faculty in the departments of Civil Engineering, Engineering Physics and Mechanical Engineering, will significantly enhance the dynamic test facilities at McMaster University. Improved multi-purpose testing capabilities, facilitated through the requested HPS, are essential to advancements in the areas of base isolation, system level evaluation of masonry buildings, nonstructural building component seismic performance, nuclear safety and green hybrid automotive systems.
