英文摘要
Graphene uniquely combines extreme mechanical strength, exceptionally high electronic and thermal conductivities, impermeability to gases, as well as many other superior properties, all of which make it highly attractive for numerous applications. The major challenges specifically associated with the application of graphene are cost and mass production. As a Canadian mine development company focusing on the graphite related business, Northern Graphite Corporation (NGC) sees a critical opportunity to extend their business into graphene mining. The goal of this project is to develop novel synthesis methodologies of graphene and initiate the first time collaboration with NGC. using NGC's graphite, and perform a systematic study on the properties of the resulted graphene. These results will supply invaluable information to NGC's customers, and help NGC determine the best graphene production methodology for entry into this highly competitive emerging market. The proposed activity also aims to train highly qualified personnel (HQP) who will be critical in the development of next generation nanomaterials technology in Canada.
