This program of research is designed to provide insight into the electrophysiological correlates of crucial cognitive processes, including 1) language comprehension, 2) autobiographical memory retrieval, and 3) imagining events. This research will make an important contribution to these areas of research by examining how temporal information associated with verbs (e.g., if events are described as ongoing or as completed) constrains these crucial processes. The three cognitive processes examined all involve the construction of mental representations of events and, therefore, insight will be gained into the similarities and differences in how these different processes are implemented in the brain.
