Laser imaging for planetary science

This research program will develop new instrumentation and techniques for use in exploring the solar system. In particular, it will focus on imaging techniques using laser-based methods. These include topographical lidar systems as well as laser-based microscopy systems. These techniques will contribute to the next generation of planetary and asteroid missions and will enable enhanced geological and astrobiological investigations at finer scales and with additional information than is available on current missions.
