This project will help investigate how Medeo can improve the ways that patients are reporting their symptoms before seeing a doctor. In particular, it will focus on the way that doctors record their assessment of patients to an electronic medical records system. This will be done with Dr. Graham Healy, a postdoc in my lab. Graham will investigate how the Medeo interface can be improved, e.g., by building better-structured representations of patient symptom report modules. He will also investigate how symptom reports can be tied in with Snomed CT and other healthcare databases. This will also likely include iterative prototyping, design and testing. Among other things, the deliverables will include better specifications of the interface, and a set of metrics by which the interface quality can be measured.
