Adaptive prompting to promote activity for residents of retirement living

This research will focus on the development and evaluation of algorithms to automatically prompt residents in retirement facilities to participate in community activities that will help them to remain active both physically and cognitively. The challenge will be to develop effective prompting techniques that can adapt to the preference and habits of each user. To that effect, we will use machine learning techniques to tailor prompting strategies to each individual over time. The outcome of this research will be a prompting prototype that will be evaluated with some residents at the Schlegel Retirement Villages. The adaptive prompting techniques will be integrated with NexJ's cloud-based health solutions software. This project will enhance NexJ's research capacity in Machine Learning and may lead to new business opportunities in retirement living communities.
