Canada is a world leader in airborne geophysical surveying for mineral exploration. Surveying is done using fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters. Unmanned air vehicles (UAVs) represents an opportunity for surveying more economically and safely, in particular, in remote areas such as the Canadian Arctic and offshore. UAVs require a smaller team of operators than traditional aircraft and do not expose pilots to the dangers of low altitude flying.
