Solar Ship uses Canada's global leadership in bush plane innovation with its patented inflated wing design to create a solar-powered aircraft able to operate in regions where conventional aircraft, helicopters, and trucks cannot move cargo effectively, and where fuel supplies are scarce and unaffordable. The wing is a critical component of the solarship technology; its function is two-fold, to provide a large surface area to generate solar electric power and to provide extremely short take-off and landing. Solar Ship is investigating new and innovative wing designs to provide the ideal balance between buoyant and aerodynamic lift along with stability and surface area to meet customer needs.
