Improved magnetic material models for computational electromagnetics

Our society is dependent on a large number of devices that deliver electrical power to us and transform it into other forms of useful energy, e.g., the electric motors that are present in many household appliances. The efficiency of these devices is a concern to all Canadians, since wasted energy is costly and harmful to the environment. To improve efficiency, better designs are needed and these can be obtained by using modern software design tools, which are able to simulate the electromagnetic fields inside the devices. Though the simulation tools have become much better as both the software and the computers they run on have improved, there continues to be a need for faster and more accurate simulation - which in turn, leads to shorter design cycles and better designs.
