Composite materials that result from the blending of carbon nanotubes (mechanical strong and electrically conductive materials) with polymers are emerging as value-added products that are expected to make an enormous technological and commercial impact. These composites combine typical polymer qualities, such as low density, abundance, cheap processing costs and recyclability, with properties that are usually not common among polymers, such as electrical and thermal conductivity, high mechanical strength, etc. These materials can find widespread use in the automotive, aerospace, and sporting goods industries and give rise to new technologies such as, foldable optical screens, flexible electronics, etc.
