项目摘要

J.A. Millson Enterprises (Millson's) wishes to engage in the design, manufacture, and marketing of machinery for the production and distribution of firewood that has been split and packaged into 1 and 0.5 cubic foot bags, for palletized delivery. Currently, Millson's prototype machinery incorporates all of the wood storage, selection, packing and bagging processing operations using simple hand-eye coordinated, piece-work methods. These state-of-the-art facilities are rented by local firewood production operators, based on a contracted fee per unit of production. The users of the facilities report that the prototype has difficulty maintaining consistent output due to the high turnover of employees involved in the operation of the packaging line. As there is high and consistent demand for cut, split and packaged firewood, Millson's would like to automate the highly repetitive processes involved in their existing production line facilities. At the present time there are no known commercial solutions for automating or mechanizing the packaging process. Millson's believes that the solution of the problem, will create new intellectual property that they could market to wood lot operations across the world. Additionally, Millson's might establish other operations centers, across Canada's Boreal forest communities, where round wood stock is presently under utilized. Also, Millson's would license the manufacture of superior split firewood processing technology nationally and internationally.
