The main objective of this proposal is to develop functional biodegradable polymers generated from renewable sources. Polychem Consulting Solutions (PCS) Ltd, is a privately held Canadian company active in the field of providing consulting work to a variety of industries in research and development in polymers, engineering material, and bioplastics. They are interested in the development of new innovative technologies with renewable materials. We have developed a methodology to incorporate alcohols in biodegradable polymers in an immortal polymerization catalyzed by zinc catalyst. The resulting polymers will be a new class of functionalized materials generated from biodegradable and renewable starting materials.
