The Dynamic Sensing and Data Acquisition Suite (DSDAQS) is essential to the testing programs conducted at the Applied Dynamics Laboratory (ADL) at McMaster University. While the ADL boasts a wide array of testing infrastructure, capable of simulating earthquakes as well as ambient and transient vibrations, the knowledge gained from these tests is severely limited by the inadequate data collection capabilities of the laboratory. The DSDAQS consists of a high speed data acquisition system as well as a range of sensors to measure forces, displacements and accelerations. The suite will enable the collection of high speed, quality data that will enhance knowledge generation and maximize the contribution of the research on engineering practice in Canada. Planned research programs making use of the DSDAQS include both structural engineering and energy related topics. This research will lead to:
