This application requests a dynamic mechanical analyzer (DMA) in which the sample is subjected to a periodic stress in one of several different modes of deformation. The force and displacement amplitudes and phase shift are analyzed as a function of temperature, time and frequency. For this purpose, the DMA is equipped with a suite of sample holders for six different deformation modes: 3-point bending, single cantilever bending, dual cantilever bending, tension, compression, and shear. The tool operates over a wide temperature range of -190°C - 600°C and a wide frequency range of 0.001 - 300 Hz. It provides a relative humidity in the range 5% - 85%, and the measurement chamber can also be filled with specific gases or mixtures. The submersion option allows materials characterization while the sample is submerged in specific fluids.
