The goal of this Engage-Plus research proposal is to enhance our industry-academy collaborative relationship established in a prior Engage project through the expansion of our developed software routines to address specific and challenging requirements from our industry partner. In addition to the steady state and transient response, this Engage Plus research program aims at developing software routines for the simulation of multi-channel operation and polarisation-sensitive effects in semiconductor amplifiers based on quantum well materials. The research is innovative because it aims to solve the lack of existing software capabilities to model and simulate scenarios with multiple inputs and outputs in quantum-well semiconductor optical amplifiers, as well as the effects of the state of polarisation of the incoming signals.
