Fast pyrolysis is an inexpensive and environmentally attractive method of converting biomass into a liquid fuel. The forestry industry is very interested in using its waste biomass to produce fuel. This fuel is called fast pyrolysis liquid or bio-oil. There are a large number of Canadian companies that can produce bio-oil (e.g. Ensyn, Agri-therm, Dynamotive, ABRI-Tech).
