The main objective of the proposed research program is to further investigate the development of a novel
Intelligent Systems Paradigm and realize its implementation (using A.I., Soft Computing, techniques) on the
operation of complex systems. This Paradigm is based on a recent study for Intelligent & Wise Systems Design / Operation, and Decision and Control, that has been solely developed by the applicant.
The applicant recently has established a proper framework for Intelligent & Wise Systems Design/Operation, and has shown in a novel way that some Artificial / Computational Intelligence and Soft Computing techniques (Artificial Neural Networks; Fuzzy Logic Inference Engines; or Co-active Neural Fuzzy Inference Systems) can be effectively used to approximate inverse continuous functions that characterize general systems non-linear relationships. It is also demonstrated, that the Paradigm permits us to develop simple but efficient learning strategies for some classes of inferential approaches.
The applicant's Paradigm has been conceived mainly for Intelligent & Wise Decision and Control problems. However, its development and implementation as indicated in the proposed research program, will be thoroughly investigated for the operation of complex systems; such as those characterized by highly non-linear (output/input) continuous relationships. In particular the proposed research will focus on the applicant's Paradigm implementation to develop approaches that need to be effective for truly real-time operation.
The proposed research program is quite novel and it is of significant importance since it conduces to the
development of efficient, robust, and truly real-time operation methods for complex industrial systems.
