The need for clean and renewable sources of energy is becoming more and more pressing. As global oil reserves continue to be depleted, growing energy demands requires a shift toward more sustainable energy technologies. Phoenix was historically in the business of development, production, and maintenance of oil and natural gas properties in western Canada and South America. Today, Phoenix is primarily focused on developing clean energy solutions based on water-derived hydrogen. In this proposal, Professor Michael Fowler will work with Phoenix to scale up the current developed a low-cost and high-efficiency photocatalyst for hydrogen production. In this project, the production of Graphene-Wrapped Titanium Dioxide (G-TiO2) Nano-flowers will be scaled up by more than 10 times, from the previously published 200 mg to 2 g. This photocatalyst has the potential to reduce the cost and increase the efficiency of hydrogen production, bringing Phoenix's technology closer to commercialization.
