项目摘要
Inhalation of silica is linked to lung cancer, silicosis and many other life-threatening lung damages. The recent
study shows that people working in jobs where silica can be produced as a by-products are at high risk of
developing cancer and lung disease. To date, no real-time method exists to measure the extent of exposure. A
reliable sensor to detect airborne silica is therefore highly desirable. This initial partnership between Nanozen
and Ko's group will facilitate the saving of lives, costly Canadian healthcare spending to fabricate polyvinyl
chloride nanofibre with the capability to absorb aerosol silica particles.
