英文摘要
Drilling lubricants are essential to the development of horizontal drilling operations, as well as reducing the environmental impact and increasing the efficiency of drilling operations. The objective of this proposal is to develop a testing standard for Secure Energy Services, such that comparable results across the company can be obtained when testing novel drilling lubricants. Beyond variation of the lubricant, this test standard will also be used to develop a methodology to be used when measuring the friction of steel on core samples. Finally, additional friction tests beyond those typically applied to evaluate drilling lubricants will be conducted. These tests, typically used to evaluate lubrication mechanisms in automotive lubricants, will be considered as possible additions to the drilling lubricant standard, as significant scientific insight into the lubricating mechanisms can be gained with these additional tests.
