Canadian Solar Solutions Inc., the third largest producer of photovoltaic (PV) panels, ushers its way into a new era of clean technology and mainstream renewable power. The company is committed to produce emerging PV products in the next five years and looks for novel low-temperature coating technologies to fabricate nanoparticle based silicon electrodes. The University of Waterloo has acquired extensive experience in development of room-temperature operating, solution-based methods for manufacturing carbon nanotube and graphene electrodes by mean of electrophoretic deposition (EPD). In this project, new surfactant and optimized process control parameters will be investigated to deposit graphene directly on the silicon substrate, which is expected to lay a foundation for fabricating emerging PV components.
