Luxmux Technology Corporation is developing a compact and yet powerful spectrometer in the near infrared wavelength band. They have already developed the high brightness optical source with a very wide range of wavelengths coupled into a single output optical fiber. For spectroscopy applications the ability to select and tune a small range of wavelengths is vital. We will work with Luxmux to develop a wide-band, high-tunability optical filter based on our experience with coupling mechanical deformations to optical modes. We have proposed two different designs for this optical filer, which we will simulate, fabricate, and test in a laboratory setting during this Engage.
