项目摘要

Three years ago, John Abbott College, located in the Montreal West Island launched a new career program related to Pharmaceutical Production Technology, as well as a new department. Since two years, Dr Khalid has been very active in performing applied research at the College, where 9 of our students were regularly involved. He has also been very active in establishing communication channels with local and regional pharmaceutical companies in order to identify how their applied research needs could fit with our departmental mission, ambitions and expertise. John Abbott College (main participant Dr Khalid) would like to submit this application to the College and Community Innovation Program - Entry-Level Innovation Enhancement Grant. This type of financial support will enable us to build our research capacity in order to perform specific applied research projects in collaboration with local industries such Altus Formulation, Importfab, and Sobio Pharmaceuticals. The technology platform suggested in the three projects will respond to this need by providing access to an impressive range of equipment as well as specialized expertise in drug formulation. The choice of projects for this application was done considering the technology transfer feasibility. The three projects are: 1. Development and Validation of a Novel Sectable Controlled Release Formulation of Acetaminophen 2. Formulation of polymer based microcapsules using spray drying for controlled release of poorly water soluble drugs (BCS class II) and as taste masking device 3. Formulation development of polymeric microcapsules using interfacial cross-linking
