This project is intended to partner with COMDEV International Ltd. to examine proprietary coatings on essential space-related hardware, and to develop an effective system for monitoring consistency of manufacture of the coating. Micro X-ray diffraction will be used to simultaneously monitor structural and textural variability between coatings produced by two different proprietary methods and correlate these with the physical properties demonstrated by the two coatings. After initial characterization, we will develop a protocol to monitor consistency during manufacturing flow.
