项目摘要

iVedha has noted the growth in demand for the monitoring of enterprise-critical manufacturing manufacturing assets (machines). Clients want the ability to predict and schedule necessary maintenance in a way that reduces downtime and reduces costs. iVedha seeks to explore the practicality of developing an Intelligent Inter/Intranet manufacturing machine monitoring (I2M3) prototype based on the Internet of Things (IOT) paradigm as this is clearly an emerging market segment and our client needs are clear. Such a system would be targeted at small and mid-size manufacturers with limited information technology monitoring and management capacity. There are several clear challenges including determining what granularity can be achieved at the manufacturing machine level (how many monitors can be practically interconnected per manufacturing machine) and what type of communication architecture is most suitable (master node vs. distributed message passage)? At the enterprise level, what is the nature of the decision making that can be supported for individual machines and how can scaling to macro-level decisions involving many machines over extended periods of time be supported in the enterprise? At the lowest level, an appropriate IOT device must be devised and constructed that supports a sufficient level of networking, computation and sensing and produces an informative and accurate data stream, while remaining agnostic as to what type of physical phenomena is being monitored.
