Canine Urban Search and Rescue (&) teams are employed at disaster sites because there are no human-made systems in existence that can move as effectively and find trapped individual as quickly as a trained dog. However, there are limitations to the use of dogs; the weak link in the canine search team is often the human handler who cannot keep up with the dog or is precluded from entering certain areas considered too dangerous for humans.
