Food and wine safety and quality are a global concern and have significant impact on both public health and economic stability. Food and wine industries are highly interested in a tool that can provide an on-line or in-field determination of the agricultural commodities in a rapid and nondestructive manner. This grant supports the purchase of a portable Raman spectrometer used in UBC’s Food Science Group and Wine Research Centre for research on the determination of food and wine safety and quality in a rapid and nondestructive manner (as the research central direction).
