NAIT Nanotechnology Centre for Applied Research, Industry Training, and Services

Although Alberta is home to Canada`s leading nanotechnology sector, the sector itself remains at an emergent stage. The Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) proposes to create the Nanotechnology Centre for Applied Research, Industry Training, and Services (NanoCARTS). This Centre will service the microtechnology and nanotechnology related prototyping, product enhancement, testing, training, and characterization needs of Albertas increasing number of small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The Centre will directly address the growing SME demand for prototyping and product development services with an industry focused, collaborative technical approach that is complementary to, and provided in concert with, other partner members servicing Alberta's nanotechnology sector. The Centre will become an important access point for SMEs to access the cluster, and its success will be measured by its long-term economic impact on the provinces nanotechnology sector.
