Coccidiosis is caused by Eimeria and is considered one of the most important poultry diseases worldwide due to the enormous economic losses associated with lost performance and medication. Traditionally, the management of coccidiosis has been through the use of anticoccidial drugs. However, public and consumer pressure is being directed against production practices using antimicrobial growth promoters and drug-related forms of chemotherapy. As a result there is a growing interest in controlling coccidiosis by vaccination because the immunological control is recognized as the only practical alternative to anticoccidial drugs. One disadvantage of using live vaccines is that they are typically administered to chicks during the first week of life and vaccination during this period increases the risk of disease because it requires up to 10 days for the stimulation of the acquired immune response. The first few days of adjustment after hatching is very crucial
