Smoking is one of the leading causes of chronic disease in Canadians. The Canadian Public Health Association estimates that in 2013, smoking caused an economic burden of over $18B. Appnovation Inc. is developing a mobile application to assist current smokers in quitting. The "Quitter's Circle", an application that works with a Mobile Backend as a Service (MBaaS) platform (Newton), that allows a smoker to seek support and motivation from family and close friends in order to maintain their journey. The algorithm will be a combination of supervised machine learning and optimization techniques. The resulting software platform is expected to
