英文摘要
In early summer 2016, a crucial piece of instrumentation in the Paige research group, an electron multiplying CCD (EMCCD) camera, suffered a catastrophic failure. The EMCCD camera is a core, daily-use instrument for Paige’s NSERC Discovery supported research program in ultrasensitive imaging and spectroscopy, and its loss has threatened to derail many important projects, graduate research programs and the retention of excellent research personnel. The damaged camera cannot be repaired and a new instrument must be purchased. This proposal outlines the importance and impact of the instrumentation to Paige’s research and HQP training programs, and provides necessary information to enable prompt purchase of a replacement instrument.
