The central goal of our research is to develop tools to support media companies in transition from print to digital. We want to better understand the differences in consumer interaction between print and digital media, to facilitate better interactions with the new digital products and overall consumer experience through personalization and sentiment analysis of existing consumers, and to develop visualization tools to improve management understanding of the available data. The tools will directly address one or more of the following three research questions:1) How do subscribers and non-subscribers consume print and/or online media what is similar and what different?2) How can social media data be leveraged to build and retain readers, and to inform a sophisticated next generation personalized recommendation system? 3) What data visualization tools can be created to better utilize consumer behavior, understand differences in geographic location and encourage reader engagement and respond to and create new patterns of consumption?We seek to develop tools that intersect the needs of business (strategic planning) and consumers (improvement awareness of their decision making process). These tools will support data analysis and bridge PSP: Globe and Mail
