Intelligent computing - a platform for real-time facility analytics

Organizations that deal with energy management, water management and even food management are now dealing with a range of "big data" challenges, with one of the most challenging being to manage in real-time an integrated supply chain. Our research will leverage data from smart meters, sub-meters, and real-time production and control systems to provide solutions for managing the supply chains and competing stakeholders interests. Through the development of a cloud-based platform for simulation of real-time behaviour of facilities, our researchers will access live and archived data from smart grids, farm operations and intelligent buildings. They can then address issues involved with data collection and cleansing, integration of domain specific resources, and application of appropriate machine learning techniques which will be integrated with interactive visualizations appropriate for the types of data in question. At the same time, they will investigate cloud data management issues including data storage, replication, and security required to support the analytic activities, visualization and interaction with an increasing amount of distributed data.
