Molecules isolated from living organisms are some of the most chemically complex and medicinally relevant compounds ever isolated. These natural product molecules play critical roles as antibiotics and other drugs. My research group is interested in understanding how nature constructs natural products, and our long-term goal is to harness this knowledge to develop new molecules and to understand how novel enzymes function. In this program, we will use indolmycin, a unique antibiotic, with translational potential as an agent against methicillin-resistant
