项目摘要

Situation Analysis is generally defined as a process, the examination of a situation, its elements, and their relations, to provide and maintain a state of situation awareness, which is critical for situation assessment in dynamic decision-making on how to respond to an evolving real-world situation. Situation Analysis Decision Support (SADS) systems play an increasingly important role in situations that routinely call for intelligent coordination and management of multiple mobile resources operating in vast geographical areas. Typical examples include infrastructure protection, maritime situation assessment, intervention in illegal operations, and emergency management and disaster response scenarios, where mobile sensor and rescue platforms collect situational evidence, for instance, after a major flooding, an oil spill, earthquake or a tsunami. A comprehensive systems design approach based on evolutionary and iterative processes is needed to address the non-deterministic complexities arising from today's real-world decision-making requirements.Our overall objective is to provide an integrative methodical framework with readily available tool support for interactive specification, design and testing of SADS systems based on model-driven engineering principles and formal analysis & design. The rational for a systematic formal approach is to manage complexity and diversity through modularization, refinement, validation and verification of abstract models of the expected run-time behavior of a system so as to thoroughly inspect and reason about its key properties, ensuring these are well understood prior to its construction. This research is novel and provides concrete benefits to Canada for infrastructure protection, dealing with emergency situations and global environmental change, and offers excellent opportunities for training of highly qualified personnel, for doctoral, Master's and undergraduate students, to study and work on challenging real-world problems arising from practical needs in a number of divers application domains calling for innovative ITC solutions.
