英文摘要
NanoXplore is a Montreal-based advanced materials company, the largest Canadian producer of graphene andone of the largest graphene producers in the world. NanoXplore is planning to expand the use of their materialfor Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) applications. NanoXplore is targeting applications in the frequencyrange of 8 GHz and higher. One of the major problems that face material developer for Radio Frequency (RF)application is the proper electromagnetic characterization of the material. Most companies base their test onDC characterization due to lack of expertise and facilities and base their material development on trial anderror. For materials intended for high frequency application, DC tests provide parameters far from the actualparameters at high frequencies. Trial and error concept is costly and time consuming that is not appropriate fortoday's high market competitiveness. This proposal aimed at providing proper electromagnetic characteristicsfor the newly developed material by nanoXplore for shielding in automobiles, and aerospace application.Through the electromagnetic measurements of several graphene compositions, we should predict the shieldingeffectiveness of each sample and suggest the proper graphene composition ratio that achieves the requiredshielding effect.Using Concordia's facilities in the microwave laboratory, the material reflection and transmission coefficientsreferred to as S-parameters are measured using waveguides (high frequency transmission guide) of severalfrequency bands. These measurements are used in an inverse process to predict the electromagnetic propertiesof the material, which are used to predict the EMI shielding effectiveness of the material. Several measurementsetups will be used to determine the anisotropy of the material as well. The results of this project will helpnanoXplore to have a new product and maintain its leadership as a Canadian company all over the Globe.
