Video call and video conferencing has been a hot topic used by billions of users around the glob. The biggestthing going for mobile messaging applications is the sheer user base, over a billion monthly active usersworldwide. nandbox Inc. has developed innovative technologies for messaging communication platforms andInternet of Things (IoT) applications. nandbox is continuously developing new technologies to both expandtheir current offerings. nandbox has successfully released their text and voice messaging platform used alreadyby over a million subscribers worldwide. nandbox recently released their video call feature which completestheir messaging offerings. However, nandbox is looking to develop a new innovative video communication tocomplete their innovative proprietary messaging platform.To enhance its product using its own proprietary messaging platform, nandbox urgently requires the ability toprovide rich live video communication experience with real-time content analysis and processing to targetmessaging video calls and conferencing at an affordable, integrated, scalable software solution. The solutionwill include the automated extraction of metadata (e.g., detection of all objects including moving objects, faces,visual similarity) for use in video calls to increase user experience. This innovative solution will differentiatenandbox from its competitors and enlarge the number of subscribers in the next couple of years. This will opena whole section of innovation in video processing used in mobile messaging platforms, where nandbox will bewell positioned and ahead of any competition.The project will be conducted at UQO by Dr. Ahmed Lakhssassi. In addition to contributing to the training oftwo graduate students and one professional, this research will promote the development of Canadian industryby aiding nandbox in creating new processes, by developing new expertise in real-time video processingapplied to mobile massaging platform that can directly translate to increased sales and improved productpositioning. nandbox seeks to grow and dominate the $2.72 Billion market in 2018.
