Isowater is currently in the research and development phase of expanding their line of isotope-enrichedcompounds. Isowater is currently the only large-scale, worldwide provider of enriched deuterium oxide for theLife Sciences, High Technology and Environmental Science applications (eg. non-nuclear). Customers in someof these applications are requesting deuterated versions of commonly used chemical feedstocks for use innumerous applications, such as in the pharmaceutical and electronics industries.Isowater is currently purchasing their deuterated chemical feedstocks, and converting these into value-addedcommercial compounds. They lack the chemical expertise and facility to develop and evaluate their ownsynthesis of these deuterated chemicals, and also the facility to develop the necessary analytical tools fordetermining the isotopic purity of the compounds synthesized.By continuing their collaboration with the Murphy laboratory, they will gain access to the required personnel, expertise, facilities and equipment necessary to undertake this next step in fundamental research. The Murphylab will use their expertise in chemical synthesis to develop a scaleable and reproducible synthesis of thedeuterated chemical feedstocks, and transfer this new technology to Isowater.
