This project will initiate a first time collaboration between the Willerth laboratory at the University of Victoriaand Immunoprecise Antibodies Ltd. located in Victoria, B.C. Immunoprecise Antibodies Ltd. is a localbiotechnology company with over 25 years of experience in the custom antibody business. One of their majorproducts includes their proprietary technology for generating custom rabbit monoclonal antibodies using theirtechnology, which screens the immune repertoire of the rabbit for selecting the desired antibody directly fromB cells. The major goal of this Engage project is to develop a work flow for analyzing the antibody populationsproduced in these rabbit systems using next generation sequencing as a way to streamline the antibodyproduction process. The major challenges will be 1) obtaining sequencing data from the population of immunecells and 2) analyzing the resulting sequence data using bioinformatics. The Willerth lab will provide personneland expertise to achieve these goals. This project will train highly qualified personnel in the areas ofbiotechnology, cell culture, and bioinformatics.
